United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1 No Poverty
At Coeur de Xocolat, we believe great chocolate should never come at the cost of people or the planet. From West Africa to Latin America, we work directly with farmers and cooperatives who share our values of ethical, sustainable cocoa production.
Our supply chain is built on trust, transparency, and the promise of fair pay. Many of our partners go beyond industry standards, embracing agroforestry, composting, and regenerative practices that nurture both the land and the livelihoods of their communities.
We support and advocate for:
Fair and living incomes
Safe working conditions
Gender equity and youth empowerment
Access to training, tools, and education
Whenever possible, we partner directly with farms and post-harvest centres we have visited ourselves — often during our Chocolate Safaris®.
Zero Tolerance for Exploitation
United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 Decent Work & Economic Growth
We uphold a strict zero-tolerance policy against slave labour, child exploitation, and human trafficking. We only work with producers who can demonstrate ethical labour practices and actively prevent abuses.
Wherever possible, we verify conditions on the ground ourselves and support organisations and certification bodies that fight modern slavery in the chocolate supply chain. No one should ever suffer to create a luxury product.
Sustainability in Every Step
United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 Climate Action
Our love for chocolate includes a love for the planet. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through:
Recyclable and compostable packaging
Waste reduction in chocolate making
Carbon-conscious logistics
Support for agroecological and biodiverse farming methods
We are currently transitioning to a packaging suite that is not only beautiful but also fully biodegradable or reusable.
Community Empowerment
Beyond the bean, we invest in education, mentorship, and entrepreneurship. Whether it’s running workshops in West African villages or teaching young chefs in Yorkshire catering colleges, we believe in sharing skills and creating pathways to prosperity.
Our projects include:
Cocoa vinegar training for secondary income in origion
Outdoor forest cooking with local ingredients
Skills development for young chocolatiers
Public talks on ethical sourcing and flavour education
We also champion cocoa tourism as a way to celebrate origin stories and put more money directly into the hands of farming families.
Transparency & Accountability
We believe in honest labelling, clear storytelling, and open conversations. Whether you are a customer, collaborator, or cocoa grower, we want you to feel confident in who we are and what we stand for.
We welcome questions and we are always ready to share the finer details of our sourcing and sustainability work. (Pop the kettle on and let’s chat.)
Innovation for Impact
United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
Coeur de Xocolat is constantly exploring how chocolate can do more. From new flavour formats like our Bee & Bean Collection (which champions Cridling Honey and cocoa waste reduction), to experimenting with natural colourants and zero-waste ganache methods, we believe innovation should:
Support communities
Protect heritage
Respect the earth
Looking Ahead Our 2026 Goals
By 2026, we commit to:
Moving 100% of our retail packaging to compostable or reusable formats
Expanding our farmer education programmes into two new regions
Launching a full impact report on our sourcing and sustainability practices
Every decision we make is guided by one question: Does it honour the hands that grew it, and the hearts that will enjoy it?
At Coeur de Xocolat, our commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and community empowerment is at the heart of every bar we craft.
